Energy Balance of Smart Ventilated Facade
Salajka, Radek
This article explains the function and basic energy balance for a smart facade system that is being researched at Brno University of Technology. This system is an upgrade to an already well-known ventilated facade. The upgrade is mainly presented by efficient control over built-in shut-off dampers inside the ventilated gap. The main goal is to reduce the energy consumption of buildings and create a healthy and comfortable indoor thermal microclimate in a much more ecological way. Numerical calculations are being used to present the energy use of a given facade in comparison with other conventional facade systems on the same building with identical boundary conditions. FSVM software which provides these calculations has been developed by the same research team. It can calculate the energy balance of conventional facades, ETICS and prototype of smart facades as well. This article presents ongoing research and results of the simulation of the heat flow of these three main facade systems throughout the year. Significant variables for facade heat flow calculations are weather and outdoor boundary conditions. They are used in this article as conditions for the Czech Republic which has a mild climate and four different seasons of the year.
Familly house in slope
Ellner, Miroslav ; Šuhajdová, Eva (referee) ; Šuhajda, Karel (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis "Family house in the hillside" deals with the installation of a house in a sloping terrain. The aim is to create project documentation on the level of detailed documentation for a family house in slope plot number 48/4 in the cadastral territory Střemeníčko. Terms of Reference is the use of materials other than brick and silicate products for the construction of vertical supporting structures. It is necessary the object gently fitted into the terrain, so to avoid breaching the the surrounding landscape and also ensure proper functionality of the object. Three-storey building will be partially embedded in the terrain, covered with a gable roof with ridge oriented perpendicular to the fall line of the terrain. Load-bearing wall construction will consist from sand-lime blocks KMB SENDWIX in composition with a ventilated space. Non-bearing constructions will be made sand-lime blocks KMB SENDWIX. Ceiling structure will consist of ceramic ceiling panels Heluz. The roof will be covered with roof tiles KM Beta Brilliant in black. The facade will consist of gray masonry retention wall of sand-lime brick KMB SENDWIX at the bottom of part of shield the building and on the second floor in a color of graphite. Retention wall remaining part will be in white. Will fill openings with wooden frames of honey-yellow color.
Energy use of the facade
Salajka, Radek ; Rubinová, Olga (referee) ; Rubina, Aleš (advisor)
The main motive of this master's thesis is expanding awareness of ventilated facades and their use and comparison with external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS). I mention this in theoretical research. As an expansion to theory and a key theme of this thesis is a description of individual physical events present on the facade and in it's ventilated gap based on data output from measurement. The data gathering was made by a group of professionals who have done an on-point facade measurement on a real ventilated facade throughout a year - more detail in text. I personally have been a part of a research team and I describe my work and research in detail in the third part of this master's thesis - experimental part. In practical part I devote myself to use our new knowledge on a given building. More precisely - I use numerical calculations to present energy use of of given facade in comparison with ETICS on the same building with the same boundary conditions.
